Solihull seniors head for the sea

A care home in Olton enjoyed a trip to the seaside thanks to cash raised at a fundraising event.

Residents and staff at Willow Grange Care Home, in St Bernards Road, went on a day trip to Blackpool with money collected from its annual summer fayre.

The home, which is part of the Alpha Care Homes group, took 10 residents along with staff and relatives to the seaside resort on September 9.

Rosemary Hennessey, Willow Grange’s activities coordinator, said the trip was a great success.

“We had a lovely day in Blackpool. The residents enjoyed a traditional seaside lunch of fish and chips before heading off to the famous Pleasure Beach,” she said.

“Our summer fayre, which was held at the home back in July, raised more than £700 and financed the coach to enable the residents to go on the trip.”
