PAT Dog Visit at Tutnall Hall
Bobby, a Tibetan Terrier who is Tutnall’s very own PAT (Pets as Therapy) Dog visits Tutnall on a monthly basis. Seen in the photos are Betty and Colin Woolvin, who resides at Tutnall, Bobby our PAT Dog, and Pam & Dave from the PAT Charity.
PAT is a national charity and is unique in that it provides therapeutic visits to hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues by volunteers with their own friendly, temperament tested dogs and cats.
Since its beginning, over 19,000 dogs have been registered into the Pets As Therapy Charity. Today there are currently 3,500 active PAT dogs and 90 cats at work in the UK. Every week these calm friendly dogs and cats give more than 100,000 people, both young and old, the pleasure and chance to cuddle and talk to them. That would be a staggering half a million each year!
Sick patients often feel isolated and even the most withdrawn seem to open up and let the barriers down when their regular PAT dog/cat is around. These animals bring everyday life closer and with it happy associations for them of home comforts. The constant companionship of an undemanding animal, that gives unconditional love, is often one of the most missed aspects of their lives. Pets As Therapy was formed to help make this loss more bearable and speed recovery.

Birds of prey swoop in to entertain residents
A host of feathered friends are set to pay a special flying visit to a Bromsgrove care home.
Tutnall Hall Care Home, in Tutnall Lane, is due to host a birds of prey demonstration on August 17.
Residents will be able to participate in the event by handling the birds, as well as watching them in flight.
Gillian Squance, the home’s activities coordinator, said everyone at Tutnall Hall was looking forward to the demonstration
“We haven’t hosted anything like this before and it will be something a bit different for the residents to enjoy,” she said.
“It is really important to plan events like this so that those residents who are less mobile can take part in interesting and stimulating activities.
“The residents love animals and we have therapy dogs which come in to visit which are always very popular and we are hoping the birds of prey demonstration will be just as successful.”
